Career Summary

Beth Kirchhoff, CPPM, CCBCO
“I learned to always take on things I’d never done before. Growth and comfort do not coexist.” – Virginia Rometty (CEO of IBM)
My career in the financial services industry started on the corporate side with the automotive industry. During this time I was 1 of 12 employees nationally to be selected for a management trainee program and went on to hold several positions including customer service, underwriting, and sales.

From here I went on to a major bank and started a centralized underwriting department from the ground up. It involved anything from systems selection, policy development, hiring staff, and managing the underwriting process on the lending side.

Then I served as a consumer compliance consultant to banks and credit unions. It is this experience paired with lending roles that paved the way for an opportunity to serve on a supervisory committee for a credit union.

My current position as leader/SME involves the development and/or enhancements of products on medium to large scale projects.

My ongoing passion is to be involved in roles with companies that entertain the idea of leading the industry with technology solutions to gain client engagement.

Questions & Answers

What are your long-term goals?
My long-term goals are to be active in the community, surround myself with intelligent people, help businesses improve their bottom line and look for opportunities to improve stakeholder gratitude.
What are you working on right now?
My quest for ongoing education has led me to complete my Certified Professional Project Manager coursework from the University of St. Thomas in January 2017. This knowledge along with the practical application in class and from my previous positions will enable me to be more successful in my next role.

Education and training is a life long commitment and I feel that it is important to always be learning and constantly improving oneself.
Describe your greatest accomplishment.
My greatest accomplishment was the creation of a centralized underwriting department from the ground up. I was given a desk and an idea and asked to design, build, and create a fully functioning department. Once the department was created, I staffed, trained, and developed employees to be successful in their roles. Once the department was operational, I was still involved in continuous process improvement and went on to serve on a leadership committee and disaster recovery committee for the entire centralized operations.
Who are your main influences?
Several people have provided influences in my career but two of them really stand out. One of them was a former manager and the other was a professor at University of St. Thomas. Both were supportive and challenged my critical thinking skills to bring out the best in me.
Why did you choose your profession?
My passion revolves around continuous process improvement and idea development.
